If you’re following us on social media, you’ve probably seen our MUA behind-the-scenes updates. After our call-out for EOIs (cast and crew), we now have a solid production family and are deep in rehearsal for our 10th birthday celebration: MUA FESTIVAL 2026.
In MUA we will be showcasing old and new works in theatre, music and cultural arts.
This includes showcasing the work of measina artist Malagamaali’i Gina Tafea in her exhibition LALAGA OLA, including the work of her students. Gina is artist-facilitator of our popular Tuiga Program (see poster below), which has empowered many members of our Pacific community in creating their own tuiga (Samoan ceremonial headdress) for ceremonial use, an important contribution to the continuation of Samoan culture in Australia. LALAGA OLA will also feature Gina’s work from our previous theatre productions (such as ‘Rehavaiki’ and ‘Amataga o le Alofa’) as well as our outreach program ‘Spirit of Pasefika’ at City of Melbourne’s Moomba Festival Parade. An exhibiting artist at Melbourne Museum, Gina is recognised for her creative work in and for community and we can’t wait to share more of her work through MUA.

As we count down to our event, we will be promoting MUA cast and crew members on our socials – everyone is busy and getting stuck into MUA prep. Our performers are deep in rehearsal and our production crew is busy organising things backstage. MUA is a celebration of our 10 years of creative service and we are excited to share this moment with our community.

See you soon!
Team PICAA.
